Built Around Accountability

Northstar is structured around a managed-service model. The client deals with Northstar; Northstar deals with everything needed to get the work done properly.

Specialist work is allocated to appropriately qualified personnel. General repairs go to maintenance workers who are briefed on the scope, equipped for the task and supervised until it is complete.

What Northstar coordinates

  • Client communication

  • Work orders

  • Workforce allocation

  • Equipment

  • Transport

  • Site supervision

  • Quality control

  • Completion reporting

One Point of Coordination

Clients communicate with one company rather than managing multiple independent maintenance workers. One request, one point of contact, one record of what was done.

Professional Standards Matter

Maintenance work affects the safety and running of a building. Northstar’s way of working is built around the following.

  • Appropriate personnel allocation. The right person for each task, based on the skills and credentials it requires.
  • Site safety procedures. Work planned and carried out with the safety rules of each site in mind.
  • PPE. Personal protective equipment for every team attending site.
  • Work-order documentation. Each job recorded from request to completion.
  • Quality inspections. Finished work checked against the agreed scope.
  • Completion reporting. A written report to the client when the job closes.
  • Client sign-off. The client confirms the work before the job is closed.
  • Record keeping. Job history retained so it can be looked up later.
  • Compliance with applicable requirements. Legal, contractual and site-specific requirements are followed.

Qualified Personnel

Work that requires specific qualifications, registrations, licences or specialist competence is allocated to appropriately qualified personnel. It is not handed to general maintenance staff. Electrical and plumbing work in particular is carried out within the applicable legal requirements.

Equipped to Respond

Northstar’s operating model includes dedicated transport, professional tools, PPE and site equipment.

Northstar is building a dedicated mobile maintenance fleet and equipment inventory to support contract delivery.

  • Service bakkie. Dedicated transport for personnel, tools and materials.
  • Professional hand tools. Trade-grade tools for day-to-day repairs.
  • Power tools. Drills, saws and other equipment for faster, cleaner work.
  • Ladders and access equipment. Safe access for work at height.
  • PPE. Protective equipment issued to site teams.
  • Mobile equipment storage. Tools and materials organised and secured in the vehicle.
  • Digital job-management tools. Requests, work orders and job history kept in one place.

Modern Maintenance Management

Northstar uses digital tools to keep requests, work orders and records in order, so nothing depends on somebody remembering a phone call.

  • Enquiries

Requests are captured with the details needed to assess them.

  • Work-order tracking

Each job has a status the client can ask about.

  • Communication

Updates go through one channel instead of scattered calls.

  • Documentation

Scope, approvals and sign-off are recorded.

  • Reporting

Completion reports are produced for every closed job.

  • Job history

Past work on a property can be looked up when it is needed.

  1. Client Request
  2. Job Allocation
  3. Site Visit
  4. Inspection
  5. Completion Report
